Pearce Party of Four:: Bringing Home Baby

Well, we made it through our first week =) The first couple of days were easier than I thought they would be because Riley slept most of the time. The past few days have been rough though. I'm not going to sugar-coat anything...being a mom is hard...but, it is also the best job I have ever had. Really, the only complaint I have is the lack of sleep I'm getting. I've broken down and cried a few times from exhaustion. Since I'm breastfeeding I have to feed her every two to three hours throughout the day and night. By the time you factor in changing her and burping her it leaves me maybe an hour to sleep before I have to get back up and start the cycle over again. Ryan has been a great help. He burps her and changes her diapers at night after I feed her so I can try to get more sleep. We both are averaging about three hours of sleep during the night. I think that's the hardest part. But, everyone says the first few weeks are the toughest so I'm looking forward to the better days ahead!

Riley had her first doctor's appointment on Monday and the doctor said she is very healthy. We started giving her nightly sponge baths...sometimes she likes it and sometimes she doesn't. Red has been awesome around her. We were nervous to introduce them but he was great. All he wants to do is smell her. He seems to be calmer since she has come home which is nice. People have been asking me to send more pics of the baby with her eyes open but it's hard to get them since she sleeps a lot. Below are a few I got this past week.
