Honeymooning in Thailand

Two weeks ago we got back from our honeymoon in Thailand. We had so much fun visiting a new country and experiencing a new culture. The trip was amazing...we were so happy to have chosen this place as our destination. Not only are the people extremely welcoming but, the country is very affordable and has so much to offer....beautiful beaches, extravagant architecture, tropical surroundings, and (despite the fact we went during monsoon season), great weather. We hope to go back and visit every few years to explore more!

Bangkok was the first stop on our trip. From the stories we had heard about this city we weren't sure if we were going to like it. But, actually we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is dirty but the city is huge and there is so much to see. The shopping is awesome and the temples are so beautiful. Here are some pics of our hotel and different things that we saw at our stay.

Our next stop was Phuket. Out of all the hotels we stayed at, this was by far our favorite. In fact, it was the best hotel we had ever been to. We were upgraded to a suite villa with our own private lap pool! We loved it! Where we stayed was secluded and authentic which was nice because much of Phuket is overpopulated with tourists and Westernized. One particular city we weren't too fond of was Patong because it reminded us of a mini Tijuana. But, we did have fun renting a scooter there and driving around town. We also went on a safari trip to the rainforrest. We were able to feed some monkeys, ride on an elephant and go whitewater rafting. Here are some photos of our villa, some activities we did, and areas we visited.

After our stay in Phuket, we took a ferry to a little island called Ko Phi Phi. As far as tropical surroundings go, this place was the prettiest. Since the island is so small there are no cars or any other motorized transportation. In order to get to our hotel, we had to take a ferry to a large boat, and then to another longtail boat...with Ryan's motion sickness this wasn't too pleasant. All the traveling was worth it though when we saw our beach front bungalow. There isn't much to do here except lay out in the sun and go snorkeling. But, it was nice to have a little relaxation... especially since we got the swine flu there. Talk about bad luck! Luckily, we were only really sick for about 3 days...if it wasn't for the nurse's station at the hotel I don't know what we would have done! Here are some images of our stay at Phi Phi.

From Phi Phi, we took our last ferry trip to Krabi. This province is known for its beaches and limestone cliffs. We stayed in a city called Ao Nang. We enjoyed visiting here but weren't that crazy about the hotel we stayed at. It was extremely hot and their pool was drained, our shower was broken, the food was terrible, and our room smelled like a fish tank! However, we did enjoy the nice couple's massage we received at their spa. We rented a scooter here and drove around to look at the beautiful scenery and beaches. We even stopped to see a snake show which was a HUGE step for me because I am terrified of snakes!! Here are some pics of our stay in Krabi.

We ended up leaving Krabi a day early to finish up the rest of our trip back in Bangkok. We stayed at a beautiful hotel with amazing views of the city and river (although the river isn't much to look at since it is so dirty). Ryan had been dying to see a Thai boxing match so we went and bought ringside seats. It was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures of the end of our trip in Thailand.

we preferred getting around on the tuk tuks =)

The last few images are of the beautiful flower arrangements we saw throughout our trip. Every place we stayed there were always bowls of floating flowers...one resort even made the flowers into different objects and patterns. Hope you all enjoyed the photos of our wonderful honeymoon trip! Have a great week!!
